A Cup of Tea in the Storm

This is a little different from my usual writings, but I felt led to share it.

We all go through hard times, and many of us can relate in one way or another.

Sometimes it’s in those darkest moments that our perspective begins to change. We become so used to pain, isolation, or disappointment that when even a small glimpse of joy or peace appears, we almost expect it to disappear just as quickly. So we pull back into the darkness because somehow it became the place that felt familiar… even safe.

If this is you, please know this:
God sees you.
God knows your pain.
And you are never alone.

It may be easier said than believed sometimes, but it is still true.

The sky never lifted,
just lingered,
pressed low like a quiet weight
that refused to move.

Rain fell in steady lines,
cold, familiar,
etching sorrow into everything
it touched.

Puddles gathered in the usual places,
unchanged,
reflecting a world dulled
by repetition.

But then –
a break.

Not wide,
not lasting,
just enough
for light to slip through.

The rain softened there.
Not gone,
just gentler,
almost warm.

For a moment,
the gray loosened its grip.
Air felt different.
Lighter.

The stillness carried something
it hadn’t before,
something quiet
yet alive.

Even the ground seemed to breathe,
as if it had been waiting
for that small, passing glow.

But clouds are patient.
And they always return.

The light faded
without a sound,
slipping back behind
what never really left.

Rain came down heavier now,
as if to make up
for the pause.

Colder.
Deeper.

The puddles remained,
but no longer held
anything worth seeing.

Only distortion.
Only gray.

Yet something lingered
in the air

a trace
of warmth that once touched it,
a memory of light
that doesn’t belong
to the storm.

And that
makes the darkness heavier.

Because now,
even in the endless rain,

there is knowing
that it wasn’t always
like this.

I talk to God when I feel okay, and much more when I’m in pain like recently. Still has ache in my heart, but this is life. We’re all going through something and I hope we always have love in our hearts. Touching poem, Willie. God bless and stay healthy!

This beautifully captures the tension between hope and suffering. The imagery of the storm, the brief appearance of light, and the lingering memory of its warmth speaks deeply to anyone who has walked through difficult seasons. What touched me most was the reminder that even when the clouds return, the light was real—and so is God’s presence. Thank you for sharing such an honest and encouraging reflection. Blessings to you. 🙏✨

Love this my friend. Truly takes you through the ups, downs, ins, and outs of our every day. It’s what you said at the beginning. God sees you through it all – even if you retreat back into the darkness. I just need to keep pushing and showing up every single day.

    Thank you!

I started my comment then put it on hold to read this post to my husband. Yesterday he ask me if I write or read poetry? I do not write poetry but I do read some and yours my brother in the Lord is ones I read. Today’s was extra touching for me for several reason related to my health. Health issue can drag one down till it feel like those picture you posted all the time. But, because of the Holy Spirit in me I am able to see pass the clouds, rain and all that comes with being depressed. If I was God, I would only want to use the best people out there to get His message to the whole world. So, to know He delights in using this broken down vessel on a daily bases cause me to delight in Him. It is impossible to focus 100 percent of the time on the good, impossible, even Jesus had a hard time in the garden knowing the pain he was going to suffer. Yet in His despair He turned to His, and our Father and laid that despair at His feel and took courage by the hand and went to the cross for us. Oh, how He loves us and when we worship out of pain and discouragement we are most like Him. Great post, thank you.

Thank you so much for reading and for sharing such a powerful and deeply moving comment. I truly appreciate the time you took to reflect and open your heart in that way.

Through what you shared, I feel like I’ve learned a thing or two myself, even in the midst of my own suffering and sorrows. Your words about the Holy Spirit, worship in pain, and the example of Christ carry a depth that stays with me.

I will be praying for you, especially for your health and for strength in the days when things feel heavy. May God continue to lift you and remind you that you are never alone.

As the Lord continues to comfort and strengthen you, you so aptly share that comfort and strength with others. Pain is no fun to bear but having purpose in pain lets us know it is being used somewhere somehow for good. God bless you and yours with his peace, more light days than dark, and joy in the journey.

What Ya’ Thinking?

I’m Willie

Hello and Welcome to my Website.
My name is William Torres, but my family and friends call me Willie. It is a pleasure to be here with you today, and I am excited to share my faith journey with you.

My journey has been amazing and fulfilling as a new Christian. I have seen God work in my life in ways I never could have imagined. I have grown closer to my faith and have seen Him work in my life and the lives of those around me. I am truly blessed to call myself a Christian, and I am excited to continue to grow in my faith.

I believe that I have come a long way in life. Over the years, I have worked hard to become a better man, husband to Frances Torres, and father to our children. I have strived to be a good friend and companion to those I have been fortunate to build relationships with. I have learned to appreciate the small moments of joy and fulfillment that come with every human connection.

I began writing stories that I believe were inspired by the Holy Spirit. These stories are my testimonies about the different trials I have gone through, and how the Lord has helped me to overcome them. Through this process, I’ve discovered that I can forgive those I once vowed to never forgive, and in turn, my relationships with them have been restored. They are now a huge blessing and a special part of my life.

I hope that through my writing I can be a source of encouragement to other people in their faith and relationship with the Lord. I pray that those who read my words will be blessed by the Lord and find strength and comfort in His Word.

To be honest, I have had to come to terms with the fact that I am not perfect, but it is in this place of acceptance that I am able to truly worship a God who is. His infinite love brings me joy, strength, and peace, and I am thankful for the privilege of being able to serve Him.

I have also started a Social Media Ministry on Facebook, which I invite you to visit here. Being Crazy For Christ is a platform where I share my journey of faith, and I am also on YouTube – Willie Torres Jr. and I am excited to see all that God will do through it.

This is my hope, and I’m so thankful for it. I’m thankful for the love of Jesus, and I’m thankful for the chance to grow in Him together with you.

You Are Loved
