I Am Just The Vessel…

Why me? What do I have that someone more devoted, more knowledgeable, more equipped to teach and guide does not? Why would God choose me to speak, to write, to reach others?

I have been writing all my life. Since I was a kid, I found joy in stories, poems, even trying my hand at music. Back then, it was just for me. Something to pass the time. Something personal. Something quiet.

But these past nine years have been different. This has not been just writing. This has been direction. Purpose. A path I never imagined walking.

Sharing my life, my testimony, speaking about pain, faith, and hope, pointing people toward God and reminding them that He is a promise keeper. I never set out to do this. I never thought anything I wrote would reach someone in such a way that they would say, isabellawolgoth “I admire deeply how you set an example for everyone who comes to your blog. I know, you probably don’t want me saying that, but unfortunately, it is true. In a world lost in its love of materialism, thinkers like you blaze the path toward the unknowable simply by walking.” KC-Ink “Willie. Your willingness to lay bare your suffering and still point us to Christ is deeply moving. This is not theoretical faith. You are living what it means to choose the Cross daily, even in quiet, unseen pain.
I’m humbled by your perseverance and encouraged by your faithfulness in the midst of so much hardship.
KikiFikar “Your witness and praise is so raw and real. Whenever I read one of your pieces (gifts) I always hear “Here I am Lord”. I can feel your faith in every single word. Livora Gracely “Your willingness to write about pain does more than tell a story, it gathers a small fellowship of people who are learning, in different ways, what it means to remain faithful when comfort is no longer the guide.”
Dawn
“You’ve been through a lot Willie, but your commitment to share the message of Jesus Christ in spite of your struggles is inspiring to me and others.”
K.L. Hale
“Your words and wisdom are always timely, true, and encouraging.” heavensreef “Oh Willie, GOD’S love shines through you to so many people on your blog. It is so so wonderful and my words don’t even tell it accurately.”
Carolina e Catarina
“Thank you for encouraging us to spend more Time With God and talk to Him like a great friend. It stuck in my mind: “Do you long to be with God?” God bless your enlightened writing!” Darryl B “Willie, no words. Who knows whose lives you’ve touched at just the moment they needed this encouragement. Jesus is smiling on you, brother.”  Anna Waldherr “Your faith shines like a bright light, Willie.” Expansão e Percepção “Willie, through your words, I sense an invitation to presence and surrender. Each moment dedicated to God, each simple prayer, each reflection is an open door to transformation and hope. Your texts remind us that faith is courage, trust, and openness of heart, that when we surrender, we are guided to paths that surpass our own dreams. Thank you for sharing so much light, reminding us that true joy and peace are born when we let God walk with us and guide each step.” Edward Ortiz “There are those who preach the false prosperity gospel, selling Christianity as some kind of easy button that magically turns people toward material riches and a life free of suffering. Thousands fall for this false gospel every year, so it’s nice to read messages containing truth like yours. God bless you, my friend.”

And yet, it has happened.

So again I ask, why me?

The truth is, it is not because I am the most qualified. It is not because I know the most. It is not because I am the most devoted. If anything, I am simply willing.

Willing to be used.

Willing to be honest.

Willing to share what God has done in my life.

Because this is not my doing. These are not just my words. This is His work through me. Every message, every moment of impact, every heart that is stirred, that is God reaching His people in a way only He can.

I Am Just The Vessel.

Do I enjoy writing? Yes.

Do I love building friendships and relationships with others? Yes.

Do I see myself as a disciple?

I am supposed to… but only God truly knows. And if I am being honest, I hesitate to even carry that title, because of the weight it holds.

Some may say disciples are just ordinary men. And that is true. But they are also followers of Christ. They are called to go out and make disciples of all nations. Leaders. Servants. Messengers of truth.

They carry their Cross through trials, through struggles, through pain. They speak the Gospel for all to hear, without shame. Without fear of being mocked, rejected, spit on, or even killed for what they believe.

That is not a light calling.

So I ask myself… am I worthy of that?

And the truth is, I do not see it in myself.

I see my flaws. I see my doubts. I see the moments where fear tries to silence me, where I feel inadequate, where I question if I am enough.

But maybe that is the point.

Because being a disciple was never about being worthy on our own. It was never about having it all together, knowing everything, or standing without weakness. The very men Jesus called were imperfect, unsure, and at times afraid.

Yet they followed.

Not because they were worthy, but because they were willing.

And maybe that is where I stand. Not as someone who has arrived, not as someone who claims the title boldly, but as someone who is learning… slowly, humbly… to follow.

There is a quiet insecurity that many carry. A shyness, a lingering doubt that whispers we are not enough, that we will never become anything of value. Yet it is often those very people that God chooses to use the most.

Look at the disciples. When Jesus called them, they were not scholars, not powerful, not admired by society.

There was Peter, a fisherman who would later struggle with fear and denial. Andrew, his brother, who quietly brought others to Jesus without seeking recognition. James and John, fishermen as well, known for their fiery tempers, even called sons of thunder. Philip, who questioned and tried to reason things out. Bartholomew, also known as Nathanael, who at first doubted anything good could come from Nazareth.

Matthew, a tax collector, was seen as a traitor by his own people. Thomas doubted and needed to see to believe. James, the son of Alphaeus, lived in the background, not widely known, yet still chosen. Simon the Zealot, once passionate about fighting against the government, had to learn a different kind of kingdom. Judas, the son of James, also called Thaddaeus, asked sincere questions, seeking understanding.

And then there was Judas Iscariot, who would ultimately betray Jesus.

These were ordinary, flawed men. Different backgrounds, different struggles, different weaknesses. Some were bold, some were quiet. Some doubted, some feared. None of them were perfect.

And yet Jesus chose them. He walked with them, taught them, corrected them, loved them. He did not choose them because of who they were, but because of what they would become through Him.

He transformed them into vessels that would carry His truth to the world.

God has always worked this way. He takes what the world sees as nothing and turns it into something powerful. Not for the sake of the person, but so His glory is revealed through them.

So if you have ever felt like you are nothing, remember this: God created you with purpose. You are not overlooked. You are not forgotten. You were made to be someone, someone chosen to reflect His love, His mercy, and His grace to others.

Lift your head. Let go of the doubt, the fear, and the insecurity. Those things were never meant to define you.

Because as it is written, Go therefore and make disciples of all nationsMatthew 28:19.

This is the mission. Not given to the perfect, but to the willing.

So stand firm. Walk boldly. And step into the calling placed on your life, knowing that the God who called you is the same God who will sustain you, strengthen you, and finish the work He began in you.

The End

Hi Willie my friend! I can so very much relate to you and the writing part, putting all your pain down for others to read. But maybe being so vulnerable, broken and not perfect is exactly what GOD needs so that HE can shine more brightly through you. YOU are a blessing here to so many, may you persevere in HIS grace for you! YOU are LOVED!!

Thank you so much, my Dear Sister… Your words truly always touch my heart.

It’s not always easy being vulnerable and sharing from places of pain, but I have to believe that God can use even our brokenness for His purpose and Glory.

I’m grateful that He Continues to shine through imperfect people like me and He knows how imperfect I am, because I am nothing special.

Thank you so much for your Encouragement, Love, and Prayers. I truly need them and they mean more than you know.

May we Continue to persevere in His Grace and keep pointing others back to Him.

There is something deeply honest about this wrestle between inadequacy and calling. The beauty of it is that Scripture has always pointed to God using ordinary, willing people, and that truth speaks clearly through your words here.

Willie, you show all the signs of humility. You have blessed me with your writings in so many ways. Because of you, I now ask God the hard questions like: “How can I do what I do better?” and, :Why did God choose an unqualified guy like me to carry the burden of discipleship.

As you stated, the mission is not given to the perfect, but the willing.

So, I give those words written by you, back to you: Stand firm, walk boldly, and step into the calling placed on your life. For the God who called you is the same God who will sustain you, strengthen you, and finish the work He began in you.

This is a beautiful expression of humility and faith. Your words remind us that God often works through ordinary people who are willing to surrender themselves completely to His purpose. The phrase “I am just the vessel” carries deep spiritual wisdom because it shifts the focus from personal recognition to divine guidance and grace.

I also appreciate the honesty in your reflection. Acknowledging weakness while trusting God’s strength makes the message even more powerful and relatable. Your post encourages readers to see that our struggles, experiences, and testimonies can become instruments of hope and encouragement for others when placed in God’s hands. Truly inspiring and faith-filled writing.

In a nutshell, yes, you are a disciple, and it’s all of your brokenness and resignation that proves it. We are not called because we’re perfect, worthy or even willing, it’s about obedience, faithfulness, persistently being drawn in without resistance.
All of the life experience you’ve been through, even writing apart from Christ, all of your pain and struggle, all of it is for building you to come to this point.
It’s when you’re broken that he can use you.
You are called, you answered and obeyed; you are a disciple.
Part of knowing your calling is accepting that you are what you are: a disciple is the first part.
    Blessings Willie

I’m thankful God only called on perfect person to do his work … of course that would be God the Son. And because He has chosen us to work with Him, it is by Him we do it. Philippians 1:6 is a go to verse for me because it reminds me He is still working on me. Thank you for your good solid teaching … it’s easy to tell where it comes from. I believe God recognizes sincerity when someone truly puts themselves forward as “willing.” Your text touched me even more intensely when I read that God doesn’t abandon people who feel incapable or imperfect, but that there is a purpose for everyone and that God will always continue to sustain those He has called… I described it in my own words, but the meaning remained. In fact, when Jesus told His disciples, “One of you will betray me,” EVERY one of the men around the table thought to himself, “Could I be the one to which He is referring; could I be the betrayer.”… Except one. Judas. When he asked, “Lord, is it I?” he was just miming what he saw the real disciples doing. We must always be aware that without His grace, we could betray Him.❤️&🙏, c.a.

Thank you so much for Reading and Commenting and for your Kind Words. That really means a lot to me.

Sometimes I don’t feel like what I write is anything special, so hearing that it touched you and others in that way is humbling. Truly, all of this is God at work, not me.

Thank you, and God Bless you and your family, today and always…

Reading this felt very personal to me because I’ve asked myself that same question more than once—“why me?”

Like you, I don’t see myself as the most qualified or the most knowledgeable. I see my flaws, my doubts, and the moments I feel completely unworthy of anything meaningful. So I understand that tension you describe between feeling inadequate and still sensing a call to speak, write, and share.

What stood out to me in your words is that it was never about being worthy in the first place, but about being willing. That really resonated with me. Because when I look at the disciples you mentioned, I don’t see perfect people either. I see ordinary people who simply followed.

This encouraged me to stop measuring calling by perfection and instead look at willingness as the starting point.

Keep up the great work Willie. May the Lord continue to bless you as you continue on your writing journey.

A heartfelt spiritual reflection—exploring humility, self-doubt, and the question of divine calling, as the writer wrestles with feeling unworthy yet being chosen for a purpose. ✨🕊️

What Ya’ Thinking?

I’m Willie

Hello and Welcome to my Website.
My name is William Torres, but my family and friends call me Willie. It is a pleasure to be here with you today, and I am excited to share my faith journey with you.

My journey has been amazing and fulfilling as a new Christian. I have seen God work in my life in ways I never could have imagined. I have grown closer to my faith and have seen Him work in my life and the lives of those around me. I am truly blessed to call myself a Christian, and I am excited to continue to grow in my faith.

I believe that I have come a long way in life. Over the years, I have worked hard to become a better man, husband to Frances Torres, and father to our children. I have strived to be a good friend and companion to those I have been fortunate to build relationships with. I have learned to appreciate the small moments of joy and fulfillment that come with every human connection.

I began writing stories that I believe were inspired by the Holy Spirit. These stories are my testimonies about the different trials I have gone through, and how the Lord has helped me to overcome them. Through this process, I’ve discovered that I can forgive those I once vowed to never forgive, and in turn, my relationships with them have been restored. They are now a huge blessing and a special part of my life.

I hope that through my writing I can be a source of encouragement to other people in their faith and relationship with the Lord. I pray that those who read my words will be blessed by the Lord and find strength and comfort in His Word.

To be honest, I have had to come to terms with the fact that I am not perfect, but it is in this place of acceptance that I am able to truly worship a God who is. His infinite love brings me joy, strength, and peace, and I am thankful for the privilege of being able to serve Him.

I have also started a Social Media Ministry on Facebook, which I invite you to visit here. Being Crazy For Christ is a platform where I share my journey of faith, and I am also on YouTube – Willie Torres Jr. and I am excited to see all that God will do through it.

This is my hope, and I’m so thankful for it. I’m thankful for the love of Jesus, and I’m thankful for the chance to grow in Him together with you.

You Are Loved
