A Writer’s Struggle, A Friend’s Light

A note of Thanks, a moment of Honesty, and all Glory to God.

I’ll be honest, there are many days when insecurity weighs me down. I question my writing, my voice, and sometimes even wonder if I should keep going at all. Discouragement creeps in, making me ask, Does any of this even matter? But then I remember: this isn’t about me.

It’s not about recognition or what I bring to the table. It’s about pointing others to God, the One who gave me the gift to write in the first place. If anything good comes from these words, then all the Glory and Praise belongs to Him.

And if even one heart is blessed or catches a glimpse of His love through something I’ve written, then every doubt, every struggle, and every quiet moment of uncertainty becomes worth it. Because it’s not about being seen. It’s about making Him known.

Still, I’ll admit, posts like this are hard. They feel like I’m drawing attention to myself, and that’s never the goal. I’ve never liked the spotlight. But every now and then, I feel led to speak, not to lift myself up, but to lift up those who have supported and encouraged me in ways I can’t ignore.

As many of you know, I give all Glory to God. Anything good that comes from this blog, any encouragement, any message that resonates, is because of Him. Most of the time, I don’t even know how it all came together. I’ve never felt confident in myself, and honestly, I probably never will. But here’s what I do know:

People like Ernie Dawg, Hazel, Jolene, Mags, Expansion and Perception, Maria Ott, and Francisco, (To name a few), when they take the time to read, support, and leave heartfelt words, it means more than they know. It’s a kind of love and kindness that even those closest to me haven’t always shown. It doesn’t go unnoticed.

Today, I want to take a moment to recognize someone truly special: Mags from Magswin.

Mags, you’ve been an incredible support, a kind soul, a blessing, and a true friend. In such a short time, you’ve done so much, not just for me, but for my family too. Every time I turn around, I see your kindness in action, and it humbles me.

There aren’t many people like you, people who give without expecting tenfold in return, who uplift without hesitation. You carry a gentle heart, and I truly believe God brought you into our lives for a reason.

So today, I want to encourage everyone to subscribe to her blog and be blessed by her heart. And to Mags, from my heart to yours, from my home to yours, and from the deepest corners of my gratitude:

Thank you.

You are loved.

A short prayer for Mags

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of Mags. Thank You for her kindness, her selflessness, and the light she shares with others. I ask that You continue to Bless her, strengthen her, and surround her with the same love and encouragement she so freely gives. May her heart always be refreshed, her spirit always lifted, and her life filled with joy and peace.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen. 🙏

Thank you. Truly.

Willie Torres Jr.

It would be a shame if you did not lend us your voice. If ever doubt creeps into your mind about your gift, don’t let dark shadows fall over the lightness in your words. Wabi sabi. The perfection of imperfection. Just keep talking and writing. Sharing ideas is beautiful! 😊

I must say I do not deal with insecurity as much as I use to and I think that has been the benefit of being 78. Like you, I want to encourage other with my post, but I also need to write out my thoughts, its good for my soul. I always say, if I were a man I would preach because He is worth preaching about. So, instead I teach a ladies Bible study in my home and have every place we have lived. I need to share what God is teaching me for my sake first and if it touches others then praise Him even more. I have the gift of exhorting and I always ask God with each new lesson He teaches me to make His truth real in my life so I can give it to others We can only speak of what we already know, what we have experienced through reading the Bible and the Holy Spirit using the knowledge we obtain to live our lives for Him. I cannot apologize for talking about Him, for writing about Him for sharing His truth with others. If we lift up Jesus all men will be drawn to Him, John 12:30. I am with all the others who commented on your post, KEEP WRITING. Blessings

Excellent post. I would be weary of those who did not worry about the content that they write. Those who write religious blogs and the like have a HUGE responsibility, James 3:1 to get it right. This should trouble our souls but never stifle them.

I like what you wrote: Does any of this even matter? But then I remember: this isn’t about me. It’s about pointing others to God, the One who gave me the gift to write in the first place. That is the proper attitude, it is never about me it is always about Him!

    Keep writing brother.

Your renewed conviction that writing is not about personal recognition but about glorifying His Name is truly inspiring. It takes courage to admit those inner struggles, yet your willingness to see writing as a form of service makes your journey deeply meaningful. I admire how you’ve turned doubt into devotion, and how you now hold fast to the truth that even a single heart touched by your words is worth it all.

I also love how you highlighted the role of community—how the encouragement of one friend can rekindle the fire when our own lamp flickers. That honesty is powerful. Many of us who write or serve often forget that we were never called to walk alone; God designed fellowship so that we could lift each other up, and your testimony reminds us of the beauty in receiving help as much as giving it.

As KC-Ink and Wise Hearted beautifully said, your words point others back to God, and that is where the true fruit lies. Maybe one lighthearted tip for all of us writers: whenever doubts creep in, pause and write a “mini-prayer note” to yourself—one sentence that lifts your gaze to Christ again. Later, when you re-read it, it might be the very spark that keeps your pen moving and your faith burning.

I’m Willie

Hello and Welcome to my Website.
My name is William Torres, but my family and friends call me Willie. It is a pleasure to be here with you today, and I am excited to share my faith journey with you.

My journey has been amazing and fulfilling as a new Christian. I have seen God work in my life in ways I never could have imagined. I have grown closer to my faith and have seen Him work in my life and the lives of those around me. I am truly blessed to call myself a Christian, and I am excited to continue to grow in my faith.

I believe that I have come a long way in life. Over the years, I have worked hard to become a better man, husband to Frances Torres, and father to our children. I have strived to be a good friend and companion to those I have been fortunate to build relationships with. I have learned to appreciate the small moments of joy and fulfillment that come with every human connection.

I began writing stories that I believe were inspired by the Holy Spirit. These stories are my testimonies about the different trials I have gone through, and how the Lord has helped me to overcome them. Through this process, I’ve discovered that I can forgive those I once vowed to never forgive, and in turn, my relationships with them have been restored. They are now a huge blessing and a special part of my life.

I hope that through my writing I can be a source of encouragement to other people in their faith and relationship with the Lord. I pray that those who read my words will be blessed by the Lord and find strength and comfort in His Word.

To be honest, I have had to come to terms with the fact that I am not perfect, but it is in this place of acceptance that I am able to truly worship a God who is. His infinite love brings me joy, strength, and peace, and I am thankful for the privilege of being able to serve Him.

I have also started a Social Media Ministry on Facebook, which I invite you to visit here. Being Crazy For Christ is a platform where I share my journey of faith, and I am also on YouTube – Willie Torres Jr. and I am excited to see all that God will do through it.

This is my hope, and I’m so thankful for it. I’m thankful for the love of Jesus, and I’m thankful for the chance to grow in Him together with you.

You Are Loved
