Time With God – Part 2

Revised Edition Part Two

Welcome back to Time With God, Part Two of Eight. If you haven’t read Part One yet, I encourage you to catch up here. This journey is transformative, and starting from the beginning will help you engage fully with the message.

We live in a world governed by time. 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day, and so on. But how much of that time are we dedicating to God? While time is a gift, it’s easy to let distractions steal it away.

Do you eagerly anticipate your Time With God? Or does life get in the way? Spending Time With God—through prayer, worship, and Bible reading—should be our highest priority.

Are you still?

Are you taking time to truly connect with God? Or have you been distracted, missing out on the transformative power of being in His presence?

As we continue this series, I encourage you to reflect on your Time With God. Let’s prioritize it together. Don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss the next part of this life-changing journey.

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing..

Time With God: Part 2 of 5

God deserves our utmost devotion and respect, and that can be shown in our daily lives. Spending Time With God can be the most honorable, wholesome, and memorable moments of our lives. Quiet times of prayer, worship, reading the Bible, talking to Him one on one, and giving Him thanks and praise are all important ways to show our love and devotion.

Matthew 6:6 — Amplified Bible
But when you pray, go into your most private room, close the door, and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees [what is done] in secret will reward you.

“Making Time With God is not about us, but about Him. We must be willing to put aside our own interests and instead focus on Him and what He desires from us. We must be willing to listen to Him, read His Word, and obey His commands. Only then can we truly experience the full joy of being in relationship with our Lord.”

I write to you all today to admit my guilt. I have not been spending enough Time With God, and I regret it deeply. I have come to understand that I have been failing in my spiritual journey, and I am determined to make a change.

When I first wake up in the morning, I find it easy to gravitate towards social media like Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, Band, and Twitter. I can’t help but to grab my phone and start scrolling through people’s posts, reading their shares, blogs, tweets, and raves. It almost becomes a reflex, I’m so used to it that I don’t even think twice. I can’t help but take a moment to share, copy, and paste the interesting, funny, and encouraging things I find. I’m so quick to dive into other people’s lives before I even give God a moment of my time. This can often become my priority and I forget to give God a moment of my time. It’s something I need to work on, as it’s not a healthy practice. Social media can be a great way to connect with people and stay up to date, but it shouldn’t take precedence over having a relationship with God.

I’m so quick to dive into other people’s lives before I even give God a moment of my time.

It is so easy to get caught up in daily tasks and forget to make Time With God. I often find myself neglecting to spend time in the Bible, despite knowing that it should be a priority. I make excuses such as not having enough time, or not being in the mood, and these distractions keep me from spending time in God’s word. Yet, God puts us first all the time, even scripture tells us this. We must remember to prioritize our relationship with Him and take time to read the Bible regularly. It is our responsibility to make the effort, and I must be accountable to do this. I know that when I spend time in the Bible, I will be blessed.

Proverbs 16:3 — English Standard Version
Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

Allow me just a second of your time to help you appreciate what a wonderful gift we have been given with each new day.

Every morning we are blessed to be able to open our eyes, stretch and take in the fresh air. Our first thought should be to thank our Creator for the gift of another day and the opportunity to use it fruitfully. When it comes to starting your day, there is nothing simpler than putting God first. Taking a few moments to offer your thanks and praise to Him can be a powerful way to set the tone for the day. By doing this, you are essentially inviting the Father into your day and creating a feeling of joy and upliftment. Knowing that you started your day by honoring God can be an incredibly reassuring sensation that will help you to stay positive and keep a peaceful attitude throughout the day. It really is as simple as that.

For coffee lovers, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee in the morning is one of life’s simple joys. It’s that moment when we open our eyes and feel ready to take on the day ahead. It’s not just the scent of a steaming cup that awakens us, but the rich taste too—the perfect balance of roast and flavor that excites our senses. That first cup of coffee marks the beginning of a new day, a signal that we’re set to start things off on the right note.

No! There is nothing better than the aroma of fresh brewed coffee. Every morning, we should give thanks for being blessed with the sense of smell. It’s one of our five senses that allows us to truly appreciate the subtle, yet powerful aroma of freshly brewed coffee. The smell of the coffee beans as they are being ground, the sound of the liquid as it is poured into the cup, and the sight of the steam rising from the freshly brewed cup of coffee are all indications that the day is beginning. Let us be thankful to God for allowing us to experience this simple pleasure.

God is patient and understanding. Don’t worry about trying to make your prayer sound perfect. He loves you, and He knows your heart. He will accept your prayer however you choose to say it. Talk to Him as you would a best friend, or just speak from the heart. God is listening.

Prayer is a two-way communication, so make sure you listen too. Give Him the opportunity to speak to you and show you the way. God may not answer in the way you expect, but He will make His will known.

Great post, Willie. You touched on something that many Christians struggle with and there are so many distractions. I think I mentioned this before, but I cut Facebook and social media out of my life because they’re so dangerously draining, with so many messages not only from friends but sometimes even from family members. I only have LinkedIn because of some professional connections I have there, but that’s about it.

My Bible reading experience has changed over time. I’ve read the Bible all the way through about twice, and now, in this season of life, I’m alternating between the Old and New Testaments each day and then writing in my journal whatever thoughts come to mind. I also keep a biblical notebook where I write answers to different subjects as I read the Bible. It’s so helpful, especially as we get bombarded with the wrong Christian messages on a daily basis.

My “Jesus Times,” as I call them (my pastor suggested that, and I liked it) have become ever more important to me in the past month. And even before then, I had added an evening time, right before I go to bed. So I’ve got time in the morning and time at night, where I go through some kind of liturgy, with prayer and Scripture reading in both times. I do struggle with being distracted, though, as I use a computed to take notes in One Note, before I publish my morning blog. That’s definitely something I need to do better at.

I love the idea of “Jesus Times” such a meaningful way to connect. I continue to struggle with my own Time With God, which is exactly why I shared this post. I believe we all face these challenges, but it’s so important to incorporate more “Jesus Time” (or as I say, Time With God) because there’s no better way to start and end our day.

You have addressed a vitally important subject. Either the Lord is first or He is not. Anything else is idolatry. And that is no light matter. Romans 8:1-8 says we are either led by the flesh or the Holy Spirit. If we are led by the flesh it is death and is hostile to God. Like I said, no light matter. He is testing us all to see what we want.

Amen brother. I just had a comment that discussed this very subject. I found the Lord again in 2010 and struggled with my faith for the next seven years, building little by little and then backsliding. In 2018 I started living by the rule of hurdy gurdy. That’s right bro, I pray, thanking God for this day and asking guidance before my feet hit the floor. [my first high of the day] Then it’s to the smell of grinding beans and get up and go juice.

From ’18 until today my life has improved too much to tell here. Giving thanks for small things through out the day puts a smile on my heart and soothes the soul. And to close even the days of struggle I thank the man upstairs for the day I had, and ask for forgiveness for the wrongs I’ve done.

This is a fantastic post Willie. I just put a new page on my site for posts like this. I will link to this and share it on Dawghouse Choice.

This is interesting article, you have good points here. When it comes to social media, one way is that turn off your phone and computer, first for a day and just sit down. Pretty soon you notice how much there are other things you can do. I think internet takes about 80% of people’s time and capacity. I myself am almost all the time offline and I have found it very rewarding. I have time to do whatever and capacity to be in touch with people in real life. Of course everyone finds his own best way to handle this thing. Anyway, do not feel anything negative, you have not done anything wrong. Maybe God is going to give you something better. Hey Willie,I guess it’s been a while. I half thought you were going to make the comparison with that cup of coffee being that first part of your day to be symbolic with spending time with God as delightful and looked forward to as that first cup of coffee, and perhaps that was your target, I’m sorry if I missed it.
But what if we all had that one thing in the beginning of the day that we could not leave undone before going off into the day?
Time with God is more essential.

Hey… That’s such a great thought. I love the comparison to that first cup of coffee, something we look forward to and feel we can’t start the day without. You’re right, Time With God should be just as essential, if not more. There are things we have in our morning routine, cell phone, social media, breakfast, coffee, music, TV, that are repeated every day, yet Prayer and Thanks to God aren’t always on that list. I’m guilty of this too. Prayer should be first and foremost, and that’s something I need to work on.

Yeah, sorry, this year (2025) has been a trial year and I’ve been through non-stop challenges, slowly trying to get back on the path the Lord has set before me. I’m sorry for being MIA…

Hope all is well with you. Blessings to you, today and always.

I am always groggy in the morning, so I start with worship songs playing on YouTube mix and drink some coffee. As I wake up, it is prayer time.

Many nice takeaways in your article. It’s so easy to get caught up in everything else and forget to pause and reconnect. Thanks for the reminder to slow down and prioritize what truly matters!
And the reminder that our prayer needn’t be perfect, is something that resonated with me. 🙏

Thank you so much for Visiting and Reading. You are absolutely correct, it’s so easy to get caught up in the rush, but taking a moment to reconnect and simplify is so important. And yes, prayer doesn’t have to be perfect—it’s all about the heart behind it. 🙏 Thank you for your thoughtful response…

Amen Brother Willie!!! There is nothing quite as rewarding as intimate time spent with God! I’ve found that His Spirit fuels an innate hunger for more as I immerse myself into His precious Word, prayer and worship. It’s the only safe place to find comfort, peace, truth and wisdom to navigate this life. I also agree that getting overly involved in other people’s lives on social media can be an addictive distraction, after all it’s designed to be just that. The enemy uses this forum to sow seeds of doubt, failure and dissatisfaction about our own lives, steering us into what the world prioritizes and considers of value and importance. Thank God for His saving grace and that greater is He that is in me than he who is in the world! 💛😍🙌🙏🙏🙏

Thank you for sharing such a powerful word of truth.

Thank you as always for your Love, Care, Kindness and for always being there. You are truly a Blessing and I am forever grateful and thankful for you. 🙌💛🙏

You touched on a very important point for all of us, Willie. I was actually thinking about this the other day. In the last few weeks, I’ve been so busy with so many everyday matters that I’ve had little time to dedicate to meditating with God. Many times, we’re even busy with matters involving spirituality, right? Doing what’s good. However, I felt I needed to take some time for this more personal and profound communion with the Creator. Thank you for sharing this insight with us, which is very relevant for today. I hope your day is very blessed! 😉🙏🏻✨✍🏻🌳🦁🪻

Coffee and JESUS! I actually have 2 mugs that say this in my kitchen cabinet filled with mugs. So when I get my coffee, they are there to remind me. Long ago I made it a priority to spend time with JESUS FIRST. HE became my priority and then when social media came along I just leave my phone alone before the world steals my attention. I will have an awful kind of day when I put the world before my GOD. It just seems to be a given, so I’ve learned to do this getting things in the right order. Reach for coffee, reach for Bible and truth………then go on with my day. It works! Willie, I will pray that you will turn to HIM and ask HIM to put HIM first and foremost. I do know you have the desire in your heart…….we all desire what is good and perfect from above!

Thanks for the urging and gentle prompts for me to begin the day with God. I do that with podcasts, but I should have an open Bible by my bed as the first thing I read. I write a Bible Study blog each morning, but taking in what God has for me personally is so important. Thanks for the reminder.

I really liked your post. The topic is extremely relevant. I also really enjoy my moments with God. I think it is important to calm the mind to listen to Him and that is why I like to meditate. When I do it I feel very good, very confident, balanced. But I recognize that I have not been able to meditate every day. When I meditated every day for about a month I remember feeling that joy when the time to meditate was approaching. It was like a very special encounter. But now I ask myself: How do we allow so many other things to steal our attention? Your post encourages me to start meditating daily again. Thank you very much Willie. Your website is so blessed. Thank you! Catarina🌷

Sua postagem me incentive a voltar a meditar diariamente.
    Muito obrigada Willie.
Que abençoado é o seu site. Obrigado!

I’m Willie

Hello and Welcome to my Website.
My name is William Torres, but my family and friends call me Willie. It is a pleasure to be here with you today, and I am excited to share my faith journey with you.

My journey has been amazing and fulfilling as a new Christian. I have seen God work in my life in ways I never could have imagined. I have grown closer to my faith and have seen Him work in my life and the lives of those around me. I am truly blessed to call myself a Christian, and I am excited to continue to grow in my faith.

I believe that I have come a long way in life. Over the years, I have worked hard to become a better man, husband to Frances Torres, and father to our children. I have strived to be a good friend and companion to those I have been fortunate to build relationships with. I have learned to appreciate the small moments of joy and fulfillment that come with every human connection.

I began writing stories that I believe were inspired by the Holy Spirit. These stories are my testimonies about the different trials I have gone through, and how the Lord has helped me to overcome them. Through this process, I’ve discovered that I can forgive those I once vowed to never forgive, and in turn, my relationships with them have been restored. They are now a huge blessing and a special part of my life.

I hope that through my writing I can be a source of encouragement to other people in their faith and relationship with the Lord. I pray that those who read my words will be blessed by the Lord and find strength and comfort in His Word.

To be honest, I have had to come to terms with the fact that I am not perfect, but it is in this place of acceptance that I am able to truly worship a God who is. His infinite love brings me joy, strength, and peace, and I am thankful for the privilege of being able to serve Him.

I have also started a Social Media Ministry on Facebook, which I invite you to visit here. Being Crazy For Christ is a platform where I share my journey of faith, and I am also on YouTube – Willie Torres Jr. and I am excited to see all that God will do through it.

This is my hope, and I’m so thankful for it. I’m thankful for the love of Jesus, and I’m thankful for the chance to grow in Him together with you.

You Are Loved
