Oh ! So You Don’t Like Me ?

Finding Peace in God’s Acceptance

I’ve never really had a deep, lifelong friendship. I have people I call friends, some who even feel like brothers, but not the kind of friend I grew up with, someone who’s been there through every high and low, someone I still feel inseparable from. I don’t have that friend who’d just drop by, raid my fridge for a Krakus ham and Munster cheese sandwich, or suggest making fried chicken with arroz con gandules. Who am I kidding?

Proverbs 18:24:
“A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

I’ve lost many so-called “friends” over the years, and in most cases, I still don’t understand why. Why did we lose touch? Why did we stop communicating? Why won’t you even respond to my comments on your Facebook posts while interacting with everyone else? With friends like these, who needs enemies?

Psalm 55:12-14:
“If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were rising against me, I could hide. But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship at the house of God, as we walked about among the worshipers.”

Did I offend you? Did my Christian posts, my godly conversations, and my constant encouragement, reminding you that You Are Loved, Blessed, and called to be a blessing, bother you?

John 15:18-19:
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.”

I’ve come to realize that sometimes, people pull away not because of anything we’ve done but because of what we represent. The phrase, “Some people will never like you because your spirit irritates their demons,” speaks to this reality. The light of Christ in us can make others uncomfortable, not because we are trying to condemn them, but because it convicts them in ways they may not understand or want to face.

2 Corinthians 2:15-16:
“For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one, we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?”

Sometimes, our faith, our joy, or even our determination to walk in God’s truth can highlight insecurities in others. When someone is struggling with self-doubt or sin, encountering someone who stands firm in their identity in Christ can feel threatening. Our presence can serve as a mirror, reflecting what they either desire or despise within themselves.

2 Corinthians 2:15-16 (NIV):
“For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life.”

There are also times when people simply resist the light because they are comfortable in darkness. Scripture reminds us in John 3:19, “Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.” If we carry the presence of God, it’s only natural that some will push us away, not because of who we are, but because of the One we belong to.

Matthew 10:22 (NIV):
“You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

I won’t pretend it doesn’t hurt. Losing friendships, especially when you don’t understand why, can leave a wound. But Jesus Himself experienced this betrayal, rejection, abandonment. And yet, He remained faithful. That’s my calling too. Instead of dwelling on who walked away, I’ll focus on the One who will never leave me nor forsake me.

Hebrews 13:5 (NIV):
“God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’”

At the end of the day, true friendship is found in Christ. And if He places godly friends in my life who truly walk this journey with me, I’ll be grateful. But if not, I know that I am never alone.

Psalm 73:25-26 (NIV):
“Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

As we walk this journey of faith, we may face loneliness and loss of family and friendships, but we can take comfort in the constant presence of Christ. He is our truest and most faithful friend, and we are never abandoned by Him. Don’t let loneliness consume you—lean into His love, for in Him, we find the greatest companionship and comfort.

You Are Loved.

I’ve heard a couple of really good sermons on this in the past couple of weeks. Two Sundays ago, it was “Fear of Not Being Liked,” and yesterday, it was “Fear of Being Alone.” Both were excellent!

I think this happens because you’re going in different directions, people move away or sometimes work gets in the way and after time goes by you don’t think you can just pick up the phone. I also think God put people in our life who we need at the time. :)

Willie, this post really hit home. The way you opened up about friendships and the longing for deeper, lasting connections—it’s something I think so many of us feel but rarely admit out loud. It takes courage to be that honest, and I admire that about you.

The verses you shared, especially Psalm 55 and Hebrews 13, were such a needed reminder that God’s love and presence are constant, even when people drift away. It’s tough, though, isn’t it? Losing friendships or feeling like you’ve been pushed aside leaves a sting that’s hard to shake. But your perspective—focusing on the One who never leaves—really encourages me to shift my own mindset when I start dwelling on the “why.”

Thank you for sharing this, Willie. Your openness and faith are a blessing to those who read your words. You make others feel less alone in their struggles, and that’s such a gift. Keep shining that light—it’s needed. 🙏

Absolutely beautiful and so well said Willie. I am with you on this road, you spoke for me and so many others. I too don’t have any friends. Have lost so many people in my life, loved ones who have turned against me because like you, I’m different. People say I have a strong calming aura, like I glow. I glow from within, my candle burns bright, I am blessed by my Faith, Hope and Love and thankful for having God in my life who is that light. We are the chosen and if people walk the other way, then let them. Stay strong in your faith, your path, just as I am. I have been awol for a while due to unbearable and Soul destroying circumstances but strangely, I posted today before yours came up, which is in alignment with all you speak of. 🙏 The Path Once Trodden. We lose a lot of so called friends and I’ve lost family too, literally and figuratively and been made fun of, rejected, but I am always saved and we do not walk this path alone. Bless you my friend for strengthening my path. 🙏❤️

Thank you so much for sharing this with me. Life is really hard for me right now as a 14-15 year old. I’m trying my best to stay strong but some days it doesn’t go well. Friends do come and go I have learned. My dad and brother have told me this multiple times but it still hurts, even if they weren’t a good friend. I’m that one friend that will be the “therapist” and give them advice and stuff like that. When I want to share something they make an excuse. It’s hard living in the world nowadays because people don’t know kindness anymore. People should find the good in people, not the bad in people. All I got to say is that you are loved no matter what people say. God will always be by your side. I’m not fully christian, I don’t read the bible, but I go to a youth group. Anyways, stay strong. I believe you will accomplish good things in life. ❤‍🩹

Keep trusting yourself and keep moving forward.

Who in their right mind wouldn’t like you Willie? People come and go through life and I am lucky enough to have held on to a couple of friends in this journey, unfortunately One passed last year. I went through most of my life knowing our Lord had my back even when both of us knew I was doing wrong. Was I punished? I believe the answer is yes but was I really? Maybe I was just shown a different view and given the choice to turn around and when I didn’t the repercussions were found.

Either way I’ve found that without Jesus in my life mayhem and turmoil reign fast. I think after going through our own private hell we find brotherhood in the most unlikely places. I mean I’ve found companionship here when I never thought this would evolve into what it has. Can’t say that about Facrebook as it was always offering scams, viruses, fake friends and gossip. After deleting my account there I lost contact with almost all my family and to this day rarely hear from them if at all.

The images you’ve made are fantastic as usual but I do have one question about that last one. Why on earth would Frances have a beautiful creature like that on a leash?

Happy Monday brother and love the post.

Thank you so much for your Heartfelt and Wonderful words, Brother. It really warms my heart to know that we’ve shared this journey together, and that our paths have crossed in such a meaningful way. Life does have its ups and downs, doesn’t it? But I truly believe that it’s the Grace of God and His constant Love that helps us push through the toughest times. Like you said, sometimes we’re shown a different path, and those moments, although difficult, often bring us closer to Him.

You’re so right about finding brotherhood in the most unexpected places. I’ve been Blessed to meet people, like you, who help me remember what really matters. And I’m sorry to hear about your friend passing last year, it’s never easy to lose someone close to us. But I believe that they are at Peace, watching over you, and that love never truly fades.

As for Frances, haha !! 😂 You’re spot on, Frances had you, 😂 I mean, the dog 🐶 on a leash at church, trying to keep you, I mean him calm (😂) 😊

You are family and family I like! (LOL) ;-) There has to be a disconnect somewhere and not on your part, my dear friend and brother! You and Frances <3 are beautiful examples of genuine love! Your presence and friendship cannot be put into words, and I have found that some people aren’t able to express their feelings. Doesn’t mean they don’t want the friendship, just not able to articulate or convey those sentiments verbally or when appropriate. Gorgeous images too! :-D

Wonderful post, Willie! I so resonated with many aspects of this post and of your personal experience. This sentence in particular explains many separations: “There are also times when people simply resist the light because they are comfortable in darkness.” And our part is to accept it (no matter how it hurts) and to move ahead on our path, knowing that we are never alone! And we will be reassured of this again and again as we walk hand in hand with the One companion. This one thing is deeply carved in my heart: “Never alone,” and because of it, storms and challenges, no matter how big, are never big enough. For my Companion is greater than anything else! Faith, you may say, but to me, it is even bigger than that; it is the practical experience of the ultimate communion in which you are utmostly accepted, loved, and supported. Grateful for you, my friend, and all the inspiration you share beautifully and meaningfully through your writing. I am glad to be here. Lots of light and blessings to you today and always*

Thank you so much, Susana, for Reading and for your kind words. Your words truly touched my heart. “Never alone” is such a comforting truth, and it’s something we often forget or fail to fully embrace as a promise from our Lord. As His Word says, “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:8). I’m so grateful for your friendship and support. It’s amazing how faith and communion with the One Companion give us the strength to face anything. Your kindness and insight always inspire me.

Sending you light, love, and Blessings always..

It’s natural to lose touch with people over the years. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it can cause some sadness sometimes. It may just mean you’re in different places (physically and emotionally). You’re right to point out that we shouldn’t let loneliness consume us. There will always be new people that entire our lives and some, like family, who stay for a long time.

Aww. Love the ai image of your beautiful family! I’ve been there, Willie, and it does leave a wound, but there’s not much we can about it. It’s one of those “let go and let God” moments. It’s natural to wonder why it happened, but I often understand they were not healthy people to have in my life to begin with. Many blessings of love and light to you, Frances and family. 🙌

Thank you so much for Reading and for your kind words and encouragement. It’s definitely hard when relationships leave a wound, but like you said, trusting God in those moments is key.

Sometimes, it’s hard to understand the why, but we must believe that God removes what we don’t need and leads us to the right people, (Many of which I have met here on WP in such a short time – including yourself).

I appreciate the love and light you’ve shared, and sending those Blessings back to you as well. 🙏 Blessings to you and yours, today and always.

Hi Willie, as I’ve grown older, friendships have come and gone over the years. And when friendships fade, sometimes we never know the ‘why’. But I’ve learned to let go of the negative and focus on the positive, whether it’s faith or on others who do provide support. It’s not always easy, but if we give too much attention to the negative, then we’ll easily slide down that distressing rabbit hole. Thank you for sharing!

Did I offend you? Did my Christian posts, my godly conversations, and my constant encouragement, reminding you that You Are Loved, Blessed, and called to be a blessing, bother you?

To answer your question, no, you didn’t offend me. Everyone has their own beliefs and ways of expressing them, and I respect that. If I ever seemed distant or unresponsive, it wasn’t because I was bothered—it may have just been a difference in perspective or timing. I value the care and positivity you bring, and I’m grateful for the reminders of love and blessing. Thank you for being so thoughtful and considerate.

Yeah, maybe, but it’s sad that after so many years of knowing each other, it suddenly ended as if it meant nothing to them. But honestly, I’m over it, it’s not my loss. I’m sharing this because I want others who might be going through the same thing to know: don’t feel guilty or think you’re less than. We are all special in our own way, and God created us with a purpose. No family or friend who makes us feel undeserving of love should have that power over us. God loves us, and He is enough. He will never let us be alone or feel abandoned. He will bring the right people into our lives to hold us accountable, support us, encourage us, and love us, just as He loves us.

I’m Willie

Hello and Welcome to my Website.
My name is William Torres, but my family and friends call me Willie. It is a pleasure to be here with you today, and I am excited to share my faith journey with you.

My journey has been amazing and fulfilling as a new Christian. I have seen God work in my life in ways I never could have imagined. I have grown closer to my faith and have seen Him work in my life and the lives of those around me. I am truly blessed to call myself a Christian, and I am excited to continue to grow in my faith.

I believe that I have come a long way in life. Over the years, I have worked hard to become a better man, husband to Frances Torres, and father to our children. I have strived to be a good friend and companion to those I have been fortunate to build relationships with. I have learned to appreciate the small moments of joy and fulfillment that come with every human connection.

I began writing stories that I believe were inspired by the Holy Spirit. These stories are my testimonies about the different trials I have gone through, and how the Lord has helped me to overcome them. Through this process, I’ve discovered that I can forgive those I once vowed to never forgive, and in turn, my relationships with them have been restored. They are now a huge blessing and a special part of my life.

I hope that through my writing I can be a source of encouragement to other people in their faith and relationship with the Lord. I pray that those who read my words will be blessed by the Lord and find strength and comfort in His Word.

To be honest, I have had to come to terms with the fact that I am not perfect, but it is in this place of acceptance that I am able to truly worship a God who is. His infinite love brings me joy, strength, and peace, and I am thankful for the privilege of being able to serve Him.

I have also started a Social Media Ministry on Facebook, which I invite you to visit here. Being Crazy For Christ is a platform where I share my journey of faith, and I am also on YouTube – Willie Torres Jr. and I am excited to see all that God will do through it.

This is my hope, and I’m so thankful for it. I’m thankful for the love of Jesus, and I’m thankful for the chance to grow in Him together with you.

You Are Loved

Willie Torres Jr.
