A Collaboration with my Dear Brother Ernie
The Fight
Willie
Am I perfect? I dare say I am
For the only one is the Great I Am
The devil had me firmly in his grip
Trying to hold on tight with every slip
Though reluctant, I could see the light,
It took me a while, but God was my fight.
He looked at the devil and boldly declared,
"My son, you cannot touch—I've already repaired."
Dawg
Before this scene played out, I stood at the gates of hell
Watching as two entities of faith offered different riches
Come with me son, step into your every want and desire
The ultimate human experience betrayed only by snitches
The fame I will offer you will be tamed by untimely deathGluttony is yours to discover without swallowing pride
Enjoy the pleasures of sin as you walk among common man
Don’t listen to him, suffering on a cross is where he died
Willie
So from fear, the enemy let me go
God cleaned me out, filled my heart with His glow
In His loving arms, I found a cozy space
No shame in proclaiming I’m a child of grace
His name I’ll praise, I’ll shout it out loud
Don’t just listen to words; read the Bible proud
There’s a message of hope, of freedom, of love
With faith in our hearts, we rise high above
Dawg
The words you just read in the stanza above thisWere ignored by me for most of my altered life
I had no reason to listen to what was said before
I was lying in a bed of fire with the Devil’s wife
Fast times were enjoyed by Jezebel on my arm
She clung to my side wearing a sexy blue dress
Sex, money and fame who could ask for more
But it got old and I found I needed to confess
Willie
Like Ernie and I, let your spirit be free
No longer a hidden mouse—be bold, be me!
The world may laugh and mock our way
But think of what Jesus did for us that day
On Calvary’s hill, He bore our cost
In His sacrifice, we find what was lost
So, stand firm in faith, let your light shine bright
For we are His children, walking in His light.
Ernie
My eyes opened and I began to find a new path
Leading me out of those gates of a confining hell
I found Jesus hanging up on that wooden cross
As tears flowed my heart suddenly began to swill
My eyes opened and I began to find a new path Leading me out of those gates of a confining hell
I found Jesus hanging up on that wooden cross
As tears flowed my heart suddenly began to swill
The End …
This is my first time doing a collaboration on WordPress—or anywhere—and I couldn’t be prouder or more grateful to do it with my dear brother Ernie. Thank you so much for inviting me to be part of this. I truly love how it turned out, and may all the Glory go to the Lord.
